I’m here to tell you about “One Soldier’s Story” our son Sgt. Michael Keith Ingram Jr who was killed in action on April 17, 2010.
Michael known as “Mikie” was born on March 6, 1987 in Detroit Michigan, to Michael and Patricia Ingram. He lived in Detroit until age 7 when his family moved to Monroe Michigan.
From a very young age, Mikie had expressed his desire to serve in the military. He was living his dream serving as an infantryman in the United States Army, “C” Company, First Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado.
In May 2009, Mikie was called to protect and serve our country and was deployed to Afghanistan. While serving in Southern Afghanistan, Mikie obtained the status of a Non-Commissioned Officer, and was promoted to the rank of corporal.
On April 17th, 2010 we lost our hero when Mikie detonated an improvised explosive device while leading a team of soldiers on patrol. Upon his death he was promoted to Sergeant and earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
His smile has forever left its mark on this world.
